  • Develop and analyze spacecraft propulsion systems using advanced CFD techniques, with a focus on Star-CCM+.
  • Perform detailed 3D CFD simulations to assess fluid flow, heat transfer, and performance characteristics of propulsion components.
  • Support the design and optimization of fluid systems, including cryogenic and high-pressure propellants.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including propulsion engineers, thermal analysts, and system architects, to refine system designs.
  • Interpret simulation results and provide data-driven recommendations to improve system performance.
  • Validate CFD models with experimental or flight test data and refine simulation methodologies accordingly.
  • Document analyses, methodologies, and results in technical reports and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s or Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience in fluid dynamics analysis and spacecraft propulsion system modeling.
  • Extensive experience using Star-CCM+ for detailed 3D CFD simulations.
  • Strong understanding of propulsion system components, including injectors, thrusters, and feed systems.
  • Proficiency in heat transfer and thermodynamics principles as applied to spacecraft systems.
  • Experience with scripting and automation in Star-CCM+ (Java or Python preferred).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex datasets.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Experience with conjugate heat transfer analysis.
  • Experience with cryogenic fluid modeling and two-phase flow analysis.
  • Familiarity with additional CFD tools (e.g., ANSYS Fluent, OpenFOAM) and multi-physics simulations.
  • Experience with nTop software.
  • Knowledge of spacecraft propulsion system testing and validation techniques.
  • Experience working in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment.
