We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Structural Engineer specializing in spacecraft systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in structural analysis, dynamic loading, and finite element modeling to support the design, testing, and validation of spacecraft structures. This role requires expertise in analyzing launch and in-orbit loads, developing analytical models, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to optimize spacecraft performance.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform structural analysis of spacecraft components and systems, focusing on dynamic loads, vibration, and shock environments.
  • Develop finite element models (FEM) to evaluate stress, strain, and deformation under various load conditions.
  • Conduct loads analysis for launch, ascent, and on-orbit operations.
  • Support spacecraft structural test campaigns, including modal, vibration, and acoustic testing.
  • Correlate structural models to test results.
  • Collaborate with design, thermal, and propulsion teams to ensure structural integrity across mission profiles.
  • Develop and refine dynamic models to simulate spacecraft response to external forces and operational conditions.
  • Provide technical recommendations and design modifications to improve structural efficiency and reliability.
  • Document analysis methodologies, results, and design decisions in technical reports and presentations.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s or Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience in spacecraft structural analysis, loads, and dynamics.
  • Expertise in finite element analysis (FEA) using tools such as NASTRAN, Abaqus, and/or ANSYS.
  • Strong understanding of spacecraft load environments, including launch vehicle shock, vibration and acoustic environments
  • Experience with dynamic analysis, modal testing, and validation techniques.
  • Proficiency in scripting and automation for structural analysis (Python, MATLAB, or similar).
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex datasets.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Experience with spacecraft qualification and acceptance testing, and model correlation.
  • Knowledge of multi-disciplinary optimization techniques for spacecraft structures.
  • Experience working with launch vehicle providers and integrating payloads
